Who is The Best?

Giving Props Where They Belong

ONE TRICK PONY.

Overwatch is a game about thinking quick on your feet and switching characters to make the best of a situation, but like any game with multiple characters to choose from, people are gonna be known for their play with certain heroes. In this list I’ll name the best players with the characters they’re known for. I’ll be leaving out a few characters because they’re off meta currently, also this article is long enough.

1. Genji: Whoru- Lunatic-Hai

Runner-up: Shadowburn- Faze/ Haksal- Runaway

Everyone, including yours truly,  believes they have the Genji that has the play of the game in their back pocket. In actuality very few of do, which is what makes a player like Whoru such fun to watch. He has turned Genji into an art form, making him horrifying to the enemy team whenever you see him coming. How many pro players do you see get a Nano Boost from Ana, never pop his Dragon Blade and still get four kills in a team fight?...Exactly.

 2. McCree: Taimou- Envyus

Runner up: Carpe- Selfless/ GrimReality: Immortals

Next up we have “Mr. Good aim” himself Taimou, Team Envyus’ hitscan mastermind. It may be a meme, but his aim is also just the truth, give him an ounce of space and Taimou will delete your team. His flashbang to headshot combo is too much fun to watch, almost making the hero look un-divable, Tracer’s and Genji’s be damned. The dude has gotten more headshots than a desperate model. Don’t be too surprised, or angry, if you see him later in the list.

3. Pharah: Surefour- Cloud 9

Runner up: Seagull- NRG/ Talespin- Free Agent

Pharah was a complicated hero to decide who I would put a the best pro, with the two people I would put on top about six months ago being inactive, those being Seagull and Talespin. While they were and still are great at the character, Surefour has been more than ready to pick up the mantle. His reads on character movement and positioning are amazing and his Barrages are mad fun to watch. Surefour has a chokehold on the projectile game.

4. Soldier 76: Dafran- Selfless

Runner Up: AKM- Rogue/ Jake- Luminosity Gaming Evil

Dafran, currently on the bench for Selfless, has a remarkable Soldier 76. Part of a DPS duo with Sinatraa, if you pay too much attention to the Tracer zipping around, Dafran will hit you with them shits. It's a shame that he got himself in so much trouble recently, because it is a pleasure to watch him work. Hopefully when he returns to the scene, he can keep slaying like he's known to do.

5. Tracer: Effect- Envyus

Runner Up: Soon- Rogue/ Bunny- BK Stars

I KNOW that this is my second Envyus player on the list so far, but they are one of the best teams in the world, so it stands to reason they have a good roster to suit. I mean, what the hell can I say about Effect’s Tracer that hasn’t already been said, the guy is an absolute fucking monster with the character. When you jump in front of a Widowmaker’s sight, wave, and then kill her next to her spawn in a professional game, you got the sauce.  Somehow no one saw how nutty this guy was, and Envy got lucky enough to snatch him up when the stock of Tracer is at an all time high.

6.Mei: Seagull- NRG

Runner Up: Tviq- Misfits

Alright, I’m breaking a couple of my own rules already, Mei isn’t really on meta right now, and Seagull isn’t really an active competitor {aside from his short run with Kelvin and the Chipmunks} but I love Mei and it’s my article so kiss my ass. Seagull is Godlike on this character and makes her right click look almost easy to hit. Locking his opponents away from their teammates and getting the fast pick is his forte and he looks good doing it.

7. Widowmaker: Taimou- Envyus

Runner Up: Sayaplayer- Meta Athena/ Kephrii- Free Agent

Don’t look at me, I told you he’d be back. The guys Widowmaker is just stupid, in a good way. All the things I said about his McCree could be said about his Widow. You can’t just send the Tracer or Genji after him and just think that’ll be the end of it, he’s just as likely to win the duel. A personal favorite moment of mine was seeing a Tracer staying behind the Reinhardt shield to not get picked off early, that’s the power he has over this character.

8. D.Va: SleepyBear

Runner Up: Mickie- Envyus/ Nico- Rogue

D.Va is a character I’m less familiar with, and by that I mean I’m ass with her. I’m going with my favorite players of her more than I’m going by pure skill. SleepyBear is a lot of fun to watch on D.Va and he can make her look almost OP at times, stealing ultimates like Zarya’s graviton anytime they’re shot out. Unfortunately I don’t have much to say about this character so I’m just gonna bow out before I sound any dumber.

9. Reinhardt: Kaiser- Cloud 9

Runner up: Changsik- Meta Athena/ XQC- Yikes!

Man this one was harder to decide than I thought it would be, but I think I’ll go with Kaiser just because of how fun he is on the character. His risky ass Earthshatters are next to none, and he is really great on offense, something a lot of his contemporaries are yet to master. He has just transferred to Cloud 9, so we’re gonna see how he fares on a different team but so far he looks like he hasn’t lost too much of a step.

10. Roadhog: Emongg- Selfless

Runner Up: Saebyeolbe- Luxury Watch Blue/ Harbleu- NRG

I loves me some Roadhog. It is entirely too much fun ruining a push before it even starts with a sneaky hook, and I can just do it all day. That being said, Roadhog was a character I debated with myself with for a good while. There are quite a few players that are amazing with this character and bringing it down to one was difficult, but Emongg takes to cake to me. He looks like he has just as much on this guy as I do, killing opponents with the best timed hooks and winning duels he has no business winning. Roadhog has recently hit a pretty big nerf so we have to see him on other heroes but hopefully we'll see him hooking squishies in again.

11. Winston: Miro- Lunatic-Hai

Runner Up: Internet Hulk- Team Liquid

I mean, who the hell else was I was gonna put here.

12. Zarya: Hoon- Meta Athena

Runner Up: Harbleu- NRG

Hoon is like the last gunman in the west,he’s wanting gunfights in the middle of the street, but the future has other plans. He’s still maining Zarya in a meta that hostile to her, but he looks good while he’s doing it. He builds ultimate charge so incredibly fast for a character who builds her charge so slow it makes no sense. His positioning for his Gravitons is spectacular and the coordination his team has around it only makes him look like more of a genius. We’ll see how long he continues to main Zarya but for right now, you’re looking at the last cowboy.

13. Ana: Ryujehong-  Lunatic-Hai

Runner Up: Unkoe- Rogue/ Chipshajen- Envyus

Never thought it would be so much fun to watch someone play support, but I was a heathen! I didn’t know The Lord would send me a man like Ryujehong! Seriously, the dude can hit a sleep dart from a football field away, with his eyes closed, upside down, with ankle weights. He keeps his team alive for much longer than they should be, especially with how nutty Lunatic-Hai plays. Even after the Ana nerf he makes it look like it’s business as usual, hitting shots to keep players like Whoru alive while he slices through the enemy. I could keep going on about how important to this team he but I’ll keep it short, but if you watched him play you are missing out.

14. Lucio: DSPStanky- Free Agent

Runner Up: Dhak- Selfless/ Verbo- Immortals

I suck at Lucio, that’s just a fact. So seeing people be good at him is a treat. DSPStanky is a wonder to watch, making Lucio seem almost like an extra DPS. I know he just stepped away from competing just recently, but it was too hard to put any other Lucio above him. Starting as a console player, he moved onto PC last year and continued to dominate with his outstanding boops and foward play. He is definitely optimized for the new Lucio, with the smaller heal range and increased damage output. More Lucio mains need to pay attention to what he’s doing because it’s gonna be necessary for the future of the character.

15. Zenyatta: Unkoe- Rogue

Runner Up: Chipshajen- Envyus

A good Zen is hard to find. Even now Zenyatta is not always used in a dive comp, and he really should be. In comes Unkoe, with this cleanest Zen this side of the Mississippi. He has the aim to take out flankers when they come in for him, keeping himself alive and his team focused on the objective. His shotcalling with his discord orbs help Rogue steamroll the enemy on the point. The point is, don’t mess this guy when you see him start to charge his orbs.
